Monday Marvels - Beatriz Milhazes

Summer Night, 2006

The first time I laid eyes on the work of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes, I couldn't stop studying the mesmerizing beauty of each and every one. Many artists inspire me, but Ms. Milhazes' paintings scream to me to go paint. I first found her in an issue of one of my interior design magazines, and became an instant fan. I honestly don't know what has taken me so long to post about her. If someone were to ask me to name an artist that I would most like to learn from, she would be at the top of my list. You can read about this exceptional artist and view more of her work and at the website of James Cohan Gallery.

these are incredible! my favorite is the Jamaica, 2006 piece. And that's so funny about Grain Edit-- I was so psyched when I found it, too! Can't wait to see your Arts & Architecture post. :)

woah. Trying to catch my breath. That picture of the tube station threw me. I lived just blocks from the Gloucester Rd station and used it everyday to get to work - that Peace & Love work was one of the first things to brighten my day each morning. Thank you for posting it! It brings back wonderful memories.
